My Journey Thus Far…

Getting my feet wet… Adelphia Cable
I started out as a production assistant a few months after graduating from college. This position offered me a great opportunity to experience many different aspects of the television field. Since camera work was my most polished talent at the time, I found myself running studio and field cameras for everything from live talk shows to high school sporting events. Over the course of the year I spent with Adelphia, I learned a great deal. I worked my way around from area to area, covering facets of engineering, technical directing, audio, lighting, and eventually editing. At the time, Adelphia was providing the crew for sister company, Empire Sports Network. I took it upon myself to produce and edit an open for one of Empire's round-table talk shows. The positive response this garnered drew me into a full-time position with them shortly thereafter.

From analog to digital, from hardware to software… Empire Sports Network
I started out with Empire Sports Network as a Promotions Producer, editing many of the their live event and show promos. Because of my past camera experience, and the fact that the company had a relatively small staff at the time, I got to moonlight as an ENG cameraman for a variety of shows and events, covering everything from Buffalo Bills games to feature segments on several talk shows. Eventually, I saw my duties split into two facets, producing and editing. As a producer, I oversaw and facilitated a number of the network's talk shows, which ranged from helping book talent, to coordinating the live tapings, to any post-production work that needed to be done. As an editor, I continued my duties producing and editing network promos, and eventually expanded this into creating show opens, animations, and designing graphics packages. Some of this work attracted state-wide attention. In 1996 I was nominated for a NY State Emmy Award for outstanding graphics based on packages designed for Empire's AHL Hockey, College Basketball, and AAA Baseball games. By the time I left the company, I was heading up a department , supervising two other editors/artists, and had successfully transitioned from an analog tape-based environment to a fully digital non-linear and computer-based system.

News in the sunshine state…WESH-TV
I relocated to Orlando, Florida and took a position with WESH-TV, Newschannel 2 as their Senior Broadcast Designer. Here I quickly went from producing graphical content for their newscasts to creating animations and elements for commercial productions, promotions, and specials.

A period of expansion… Bright House Networks
I started out at Bright House Networks back when it was still controlled by Time Warner Cable. What began as a position in Marketing, tagging and trafficking cross-channel commercials and promos, quickly expanded into a much more demanding and responsible role as a member of the marketing team. Working hard over several years, I was able to establish and grow our in-house facilities into a unit that rivaled many of the area's post-production houses. As a one-man band, I've been responsible for the design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of every piece of software and hardware we've added to our facility. As a result of our new capabilities, my duties and workload has increased substantially. In many cases, I handle the production of a commercial spot from concept to air, doing everything from writing the script, facilitating the voice over, mixing the music and sound effects, to editing, animation and graphic design. I handle the demographic research, traffic and placement of our commercial spots on cross-channel networks. I maintain my own production budget, help to oversee various production film shoots, and continue to ensure our brand standards across all areas of marketing-related media. The other half of my time at Bright House Networks is spent on collaborative marketing initiatives. I have been integrally involved in the roll-out of our retail mall kiosks, the launch of our Digital Phone service, and have played a key role in the development of our Video-on-Demand programming and more recently, our interactive television initiatives.
